Principal-Emma Killick ISTD
Emma had a passion for dance from the young age of 2 yrs training at Jane Carpenter dance studios. At 11yrs Emma auditioned for The Youth National Ballet and went on to dance in numerous pantomimes in both Chatham and Canterbury. Emma then went on to study Dance and Musical Theatre at The Centre of Performing Arts, graduating in 2001. Whilst there, she gained her ISTD teaching qualifications in both Tap and Modern, danced at Her Majesties Theatre, The Palladium,The O2 and many other prestigious theatres. After graduating, Emma went onto dance in many professional pantomimes alongside stars of TV and stage, Trade/Hair shows, Music videos, Bump and Grind for Channel 4, and TV ads are among the jobs on Emma's varied CV. Emma has been the principal of The Edge for 12yrs now. Emma is very proud to see many of her students going on to further their careers at colleges such as 'Performers,'Trinity Laban','The Centre' and many more. Students have also gone on to perform in the West End, and on cruise ships around the world , some coming back to teach at The Edge. Alongside her dancing successes, Emma has been teaching for seventeen years in various different schools, and feels that she has gained much experience, which she aims to share with her students.
Miss Lucie Young- Hip Hop, Baby Ballet/ Tap Mistress
Lucie as a child trained at Streetwise Hip Hop School and The Edge dance and Theatre School. She went on to further her career with Zoonation and Gary Lloyd dance company , during her time there she competed in the World hip hop championships and performed in 'Fame' at The Orchard Theatre Dartford among other performances and dance jobs. At 16yrs Lucie trained at The Miskin Theatre completing a level 3 diploma and a level 4 HNC diploma in dance and musical theatre. We are so lucky to have Lucie come back to us and teach our students where she once trained herself.
Miss Christina Goldsmith ISTD- Ballet/ Tap Mistress-
Christina trained at 'The Centre' and graduated in 2002. Christina gained her ISTD teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern whilst training there. On Christina's graduation she went on to perform in many shows across London. She has been teaching at The Edge for over 10yrs now putting our students through numerous examinations with fantastic results. Christinas years of expertise gives our students the best level of training.
Miss Blythe Couldridge- Musical Theatre leader/ Vocal Coach-
Blyth started dancing Ballet Tap and Jazz at the young age of 3yrs! She later went on to take all her dance exams then went on to study Dance and Musical Theatre on Level 3 Diploma . At the age of 16yrs Blyth decided to further her dance career and auditioned for various colleges ,she received offers at Laines, Bird, Performers and The Centre. Blyth is currently training at Perfomers . Blythe is also teaching Musical Theatre to young hopefuls at The Miskin theatre! She is looking forward to passing on her knowledge and passion for Musical Theatre to The Edge students!
Miss Maddi Haider-Musical Theatre Leader
Maddi has been a dancer for 15 years training in Ballet, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Hip Hop. During this time she has performed at venues such as the Royal Albert hall, Sadlers Wells and Greenwich theatre.
Maddi trained at the Amanda Jayne stage school, here at The Edge and Canterbury Institute of Performing Arts, training with industry professionals in the Musical Theatre Programme. During her career Maddi has performed in many musicals and dance performances. Maddi now teaches Dance, Musical Theatre around kent and Yoga at a military fitness Bootcamp, whilst coming back to her roots and teaching here with us at The Edge.
Miss Lauren Griffin-
Lauren has danced from 4 years old where she grew up up north in Doncaster, She competed from a young age in competitions, championships and scholarships all over the country, winning both championship and scholarship titles including the Modern Jazz international scholarship, junior and senior. Lauren was also Miss Dance of Great Britain finalist for two years running. Following this Lauren then went on to train at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom where she was very lucky to get some amazing opportunities, a soloist in her final show and many Cabarets inside and outside of college. Since graduating Lauren have done Qdos pantos as a dancer and understudy, BBC comic relief, Emmerdale, Feature dancer BBC Shirley oaks survivors doc, The last laugh (feature film) Lauren has loved teaching from a young age and teaches both dance and theatre in London and Kent !
